Definition:

A relationship orientation where a person will have one sexual and romantic partner at a time but will have multiple partners over the course of their life.

Serial monogamy is the most common relationship orientation in the United States and is predicated on the idea that someone can be in love with more than one person over the course of their lifetime.

Example:

Jane is in her late 30’s and has been married six times, and she’s still looking for Mr. Right. :(

She is a Serial Monogamist.
